10 Fun Facts about Me…

I was born in Ethiopia, Africa, to missionary parents.
Both my parents originated from South Australia. All of my extended family still lives in Australia. Originally an Australian citizen, I now hold US citizenship.
I am a huge cat lover and have always had at least one cat in my life. The most I’ve had at one time is four. I currently have two black cats—Pippin and Merrie.
My favorite food is Ethiopian.
I love outdoor sports: hiking, swimming, biking, paddle boarding, kayaking.
I design and create jewelry.
I am a former teacher, and although I have taught every grade from K – 12, the age I spent most of my years in 8^th
I have lived on three continents – Africa, Australia, and North America.
Thrifting is another passion of mine. I love the thrill of the hunt!
My favorite genre to read is mysteries.

My Everyday Life...

I live in a suburb of Denver, CO, with my husband Dan of 40 years and my 2 black cats—Pippin and Merrie. We love living in beautiful Colorado, exploring the mountains, and enjoying the beautiful weather together.

Although I am retired from teaching (I still substitute teach on occasion), my life is full. I am involved in my church and sing in the choir; I volunteer at a local non-profit thrift store (in the jewelry department, of course).

Besides that, I’m active at my local gym, where you can find me taking body pump classes or swimming laps in the pool.

MY FAMILY

I have two beautiful daughters—Danielle and Alyssa. Danielle is married to Bill, and they, along with my three precious grandchildren-Caleb (4), Elena (2), and Myla (5 months)-live in Bakersfield, CA.

Being Gigi to these three little blessings is one of my greatest joys! I take every opportunity I can get to hop on a plane and visit them. Oh, and of course, I enjoy seeing my daughter and son-in-law, too. 🙂

My youngest daughter, Alyssa, and her husband, Si, live close to my husband and me, so we get to see each other a couple of times a month.

Our favorite place to be as a family is TOGETHER! Because of the distance that separates us, we try to plan a family vacation once a year. We enjoy playing games, eating great food, and just hanging out. It’s chaotic and loud and filled with laughter—one of my favorite sounds. There is no place I’d rather be than with family.
